ABSTRACT This article presents and discusses the main indicators of the goals of the Bahia State Education Plan 2016/2026 (PEE-BA), based on studies carried out by the Bahia State Education Forum. In methodological terms, it was based on information from official government sources, mostly from IBGE, MEC/Inep, the Superintendence of Studies and Information of SEPLAN/SEI/BA and the State Department of Education, with a time horizon the series of years from 2016 to 2019. For the presentation and discussion of the results, it chose to present its content by grouping the goals according to the priorities established in the educational field, inscribed in the specific legislation and according to the profile of the public to which such goals are intended. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the State’s education systems have not yet managed to universalize the provision of education to the population aged 4 to 17 years in kindergarten, elementary and secondary education, as determined by the legal texts. On the other hand, a large part of the goals has not been achieved, taking into account what has been determined, some of them running the risk of not being met at the threshold of the Plan’s ten- year period. The goals that achieved the best results are those related to the expansion of higher education, as well as the qualification of teachers at this level of education.
